SHARE

What would you do with 15 min??

There is an activity that we do in the Savvy Caregiver 6 week course that caregivers make a list of activities they can do if they are randomly given specific amounts of free time (15 minutes, 1 hour, 3 hours, 1 day). This is hypothetical but very beneficial.

Why? because you may find yourself getting even a small break randomly and you spend the whole time trying to figure out what to do with that time or doing something that may not be stress relieving or rejuvenating for you.

Having a list of these “free time activities” ready and available you will be able to go straight to the list and pick one or two things depending on how much time you have.

Another great benefit of doing this in class is that we ask participants to share their free time activities with others and others can get ideas for their own list. I find this so beneficial that I wanted to share a list of some activities that caregivers have shared with me that they have on their “list”.

getting up early to sip coffee in silence before anyone else is awake
playing cards
gardening
yoga/walking/exercise
reading/writing
knitting/crocheting
listening to music
calling a friend

If there are any caregivers out there that want to share their own stress relief activity for me to share with others I will add it to my list! Just email me at arego@baypath.org
