Celebrate National Family Caregivers Month with Us at Informational Coffee Hour at BayPath Elder Services on Nov. 18
By Douglas Flynn / November 1, 2016

As we gorge on left over Halloween candy and flip our calendars to November, it is time to once again celebrate National Family Caregivers Month.

Each November, the selfless contributions of the millions of family caregivers throughout the nation are recognized. President Bill Clinton proclaimed the first National Family Caregivers Month in 1997 and his successors have continued the tradition every year since.

"Our Nation was founded on the fundamental ideal that we all do better when we look out for one another, and every day, millions of Americans from every walk of life balance their own needs with those of their loved ones as caregivers," said President Barack Obama in his Presidential Proclamation of this year's National Family Caregivers Month.

"During National Family Caregivers Month, we reaffirm our support for those who give of themselves to be there for their family, friends, and neighbors in challenging times, and we pledge to carry forward the progress we have made in our health care system and workplaces to give caregivers the resources and flexibility they need."

BayPath Elder Services, Inc.'s Family Caregiver Support Program and Caregiving MetroWest will host a special event for area caregivers as part of our celebration of National Family Caregivers Month.

On November 18, BayPath welcomes all family caregivers to join us for an informational coffee hour at our Marlborough office (33 Boston Post Road West, Marlborough, MA 01752).

The event is free to attend and open to all family caregivers, who will get an opportunity to learn about the Family Caregiver Support Program at BayPath Elder Services, learn about our free, award-winning Caregiving MetroWest website and receive a packet of local caregiver resources.

Please RSVP to Alicia Rego at 508-573-7239 or arego@baypath.org.

And remember to show some love, respect and appreciation for all that the millions of family caregivers do to support their loved ones every day.

"This month, and every month, let us lift up all those who work to tirelessly advance the health and wellness of those they love," said President Obama. "Let us encourage those who choose to be caregivers and look toward a future where our politics and our policies reflect the selflessness and open-hearted empathy they show their loved ones every day."
