An excellent starting point for any caregiver is a call to your local ASAP`s information and referral department to learn about all the services and resources available in your area. The ASAP information and referral department can provide valuable guidance and assistance throughout your caregiving journey. Your town’s Council on Aging is another essential tool to help you understand and access available resources for your loved one.

Aging Services Access Points, commonly referred to as ASAPs, are one-stop entry points for all of the services and benefits available to seniors in Massachusetts. ASAPs manage the Massachusetts Home Care Program, Meals on Wheels, Money Management Program and Caregiver Support Program, as well as provide information and referrals for senior services such as home care, housing options, public benefits, legal assistance, hospice care, the ombudsman program, health insurance, senior companions and adult day care. BayPath also serves as a federal Area Agency on Aging (AAA), receiving and disbursing federal funding under the Older Americans Act.

Councils on Aging (COAs) are local volunteer organizations that offer information and direct services to seniors, their caregivers and other people with aging issues. COAs are part of the local government, and work with other senior agencies and city/town departments to provide social, recreational, health, safety and educational programs for seniors in their communities. Most COAs operate Senior Centers for area residents age 60 or older. COAs are also home to each town’s SHINE Program representatives, who provide free, confidential and unbiased health insurance information, assistance and counseling.

The Elder Nutrition Program at BayPath delivers nutritious meals to seniors who are unable to leave their homes due to illness, disability or frailty. The purpose of the program is to encourage better health, reduce isolation and promote independence.
BayPath Congregate Meals ProgramBayPath provides lunch programs for seniors at six locations in our service area. These programs provide opportunities for socialization and companionship, while enjoying a well-balanced “home cooked” meal. BayPath requests a voluntary contribution of $3.00 per meal. No one will be refused a meal due to the inability to contribute. Please call the location and let them know at least 24 hours in advance. |

Trained volunteers accompany older adults to medical appointments, providing support and guidance to help older adults get the information and care they need; program is available free of charge for older adults living in Framingham and the surrounding area.
LGBT+ Ally Patient Navigator Expansion
With support from the Tufts Health Plan Foundation Momentum Fund and the Cummings Foundations Sustaining Grant, the JFS Patient Navigator program has expanded its reach into the local older adult LGBT+ community to combat the health disparities that effect LGBT+ older adults and to break down the barriers that these individuals face in health care settings. Jewish Community Housing for the Elderly, available for individuals of all backgrounds with one member 62 or older. Shillman House is a 150-unit independent living facility located in the Nobscot area of Framingham. A mixed-income property, Shillman House has both subsidized and market rent apartments. Market rent apartments include continental breakfast and a served, seated dinner Monday through Saturday and Sunday brunch, as well as light housekeeping every other week. These services can be purchased by those in subsidized units.
