The Framingham Council on Aging will be offering a new evening Caregiver Support Group at the Callahan Center, starting in May.

A Brighter Day Memory Cafe will hold its final meeting at Heritage at Framingham on Sunday, March 18 before moving to a new day and location in April. Starting on April 19, the Cafe will move to Temple Beth Am in Framingham and will be held on the third Thursday of each month.

The MetroWest Alzheimer's Partnership will host its Fall Forum on Saturday, November 4 at the Callahan Center in Framingham. The forum, entitled "A Caregiver's Story: Lessons of the Journey," will feature a presentation by Deborah Strafuss, author of: On Angels' Wings: A Journey Through Alzheimer's with My Mother."

More and more grandparents are raising their grandchildren, which creates its own set of challenges, concerns and issues. There is support available to help you through your caregiving journey, including a support group from the Wayside Youth and Family Support Network for grandparents support group at the Framingham Family Resource Center.

Navigating through the waves of grief after the loss of a loved one can be difficult with its many undercurrents and difficult terrain. A six- or eight-week adult support group is often helpful as you maneuver into this uncharted territory. The West River Hospice Bereavement Program offers support groups that are facilitated by professional staff who understand that some people participate by talking and others by listening.

West River Hospice is offering a new program, "Narrative Medicine: Healing through Writing" starting on July 19. This is a six-week series that will explore the art of collecting and telling our sacred stories. Narrating grief, loss or illness is helpful for anyone who has been patient, caregiver, spouse, or child.
